We created a Duchamp wheel that has magnets going around the rim of it and a fixed reed switch at the base. Each time the magnet crosses a reed switch (connected to an Arduino and Max/MSP via serial port), the next frame of a film is advanced and a new note in a generative music sequence is triggered. The footage used was open source 8mm home movies from the 60s - audience members were encouraged to "play" the wheel and join our experimental ensemble. This quadrophonic performance took place at Safe // Sound gallery in Savannah, GA on Jan 18th 2014.

Moffenzeef Savannah, Georgia
